Natural Christmas Decoration Ideas

We think a lovely way to decorate for Christmas is to bring the outdoors in… Whether you like to craft things yourself, or are looking for a new way to spruce up your usual decorations, you’ll find all sorts of natural Christmas decoration inspiration here.

So simple but so effective

Bring a touch of classic gold to your Christmas decorations this year with this fantastically simple but effective idea. All you need is some gold paint and leaves. Place it anywhere you have a gap that needs a bit of festive cheer. (We think it would look great on a table display!)

Deck the hall!

Why stop at just the wreath on the outside of your door? Continue the decor inside with garlands on the stairs and festive items welcoming you as soon as you enter! You can also place stockings on the stairs, fairy lights throughout, and even a wreath on the inside of your door for an even more magical entrance.

If, like us, your eye has been drawn to the lovely wooden chevron floor in this hallway, view our ranges to find your own perfect floor.

Beautiful baubles

A simple yet stunning way of bringing the great outdoors in, without having to go to the lengths of making garlands or wreaths. All you need to do is find some plain glass (or plastic if you’re a parent/cat owner…) baubles, remove the tops, and carefully insert your greenery of choice before reattaching the top. Seal with clear-drying glue if you’re at all worried about them falling apart, and then hang wherever you fancy.

Dried flower wreaths

An emerging trend for 2021, dried flower decorations are the eco-friendly way of enjoying beautiful blooms year-round. Once you’ve finished using this wreath on your door at Christmas, hang it somewhere indoors for some added floral beauty.

The beautiful herringbone floor you see beneath this lovely wreath is in fact our very own Goodrich Ecru Oak.

Citrus celebrations

Making your own Christmas decorations is a great way to bring a natural feel to your tree – and also a fantastic activity if you have children to entertain. Dry slices of orange slowly in a warm oven, then decorate with spices (like cloves or star anise, pictured), or get out the glitter glue for some sticky-fingered fun.

Gingerbread snowflake tree decorations

Gingerbread cookies are always delicious! Get yourself a snowflake stencil and get crafty in the kitchen to create a pile of biscuits that are a perfect welcome to visiting friends and family. Or, if you prick a good size hole in the cookies, you can thread them and hang them from the tree as a tasty homemade decoration.
