Our 5 Favourite Rooms

Beautiful home ideas are everywhere (we could spend hours on Pinterest!). And bringing fantastic styles into their own homes are the interior bloggers we love to follow. While seeking out new trends and working with brands that steer the interior design scene, they’re busy transforming their spaces. Here are our 5 favourite rooms found in bloggers’ homes. We hope they inspire you as much as they do us!

Abi Dare’s Dining Room [These Four Walls]

Abi is all about calm, minimalist style. And her dining room is no exception. Simple colours and natural materials capture a really peaceful feel. It’s a beautiful mix of period features and Scandinavian influences – everything we could want from a contemporary room.

The chunky wooden dining table is a focal point. Would you believe it’s from Ikea? Accents of black in the fireplace and accessories add interesting contrasts too.

But where did Abi begin? You might be surprised that she based the design around two vintage wire chairs: ‘To keep the focus on the chairs we kept the colours simple and soothing – grey and white, with a few powdery blue accessories – and added warmth through different textures.’

Cate St Hill’s Bedroom [Cate St Hill]

Room image 12

If we could choose any bedroom for a duvet day, it would have to be Cate St Hill’s. The mid-century inspired space is truly a sanctuary. Layers of grey and blush pinks set the tone and make the perfect backdrop for dark wood furniture.

Textures are tactile and inviting – the crumpled bed linen, cosy cushions and soft rugs. And accessories are carefully chosen with books, vases and little touches of greenery bringing the look together.

As for the wall paint, we can’t imagine the room without it. Cate chose the colour from Farrow and Ball: ‘Inspired by chiffon night gowns, Peignoir is the perfect colour for a bedroom I think – it’s delicate and neutral but adds just the right amount of colour to stop a space looking too dull and ordinary. It’s an uplifting colour that instantly calms, ideal for creating a restful retreat.’

Kimberly Duran’s Kitchen [Swoonworthy]

When it comes to glamorous décor, Kimberly is your lady. Her home is an eclectic collection of colour, shine and wild prints, tamed with sleek surfaces and deluxe furniture.

Kimberly’s sexy black, white and gold eclectic boho glam kitchen’ is no different. Its monochrome palette is lifted with gorgeous brass fittings and lovely pops of pink. All the interest is in the accessories, with everything from tableware to mugs and cooking utensils catching the eye.

The room is dramatic and full of contrast yet amazingly light thanks to the white open shelving. And brightening up the walls behind is a very Kimberly-esque wallpaper print from 17 Patterns. It’s just one of the little extras that makes this kitchen so exciting.

Emily Murray’s Living Room [The Pink House]

Pink house room 1

Emily Murray’s lounge is a real gem. And we love that it was inspired by a painting! Emily has picked out every colour in the watercolour landscape above her fireplace and brought it into the room. Shades from the scene are found in the walls, furniture and accessories. Did we mention that the sofa really pops?!

The feel is fun and contemporary yet fused with period features. Decorative coving, the window panels and the mantelpiece stand out against the bold Farrow and Ball Manor House Gray. And the mix of old and new furniture styles add a relaxed feel to the space.

What’s the theme? There isn’t one, and that’s exactly why the room is so fabulous. Emily says: ‘I wasn’t after a matchy-matchy look for this room – more playful, friendly and eclectic’. It’s fun, child-friendly and we’d love it to be ours!

Melanie Lissack’s Balcony [Melanie Lissack Interiors]

Room image 14

We know that a balcony isn’t technically a room but we just had to include Melanie Lissack’s as one of our favourites. No matter what the weather, it well and truly feels like summer in this stylish seating area.

By embracing the tropical trend in all its glory, Emily has brought lots of colour and fun to the space. A pink and green palette sets the scene and plants are placed everywhere for a vibrant jungle feel. Pretty pink foxgloves rise high and tie in with the lovely painted boxes. Leafy fabrics add an extra blast of holiday fun.

As for the rug, did you know you could get one for outdoors? This one is from Wayfair and brings a cosy, indoor-outdoor feel to the balcony. We’d love to enjoy a cocktail or two in this pretty little nook.
